The Football Association of England (FA) has officially announced the resignation of Gareth Southgate from the position of head coach of the national team, reports matchtv.ru.

The 53 years old specialist has led the English team since 2016, having played 102 matches during this time. Under his leadership, the England team achieved significant success, winning silver medals at two major tournaments - EURO 2020 and EURO 2024.

Despite the fact that Southgate's contract ran until the end of 2024, the coach decided to leave his post early. This decision followed the final match of EURO 2024, in which the English lost to Spain with a score of 1:2.
