Judoka from Turkmenistan wins bronze medal at Grand Slam in Antalya
Turkmen judoka Maysa Pardayeva won the bronze medal at the Antalya Grand Slam 2024 tournament.
According to the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, Maysa Pardayeva became a bronze medalist in the weight category up to 57 kg, in which 44 judokas from 33 countries competed for medals. On the way to this success, the 19-year-old athlete won five victories.
The winner of the second bronze medal in the weight category up to 57 kg and a cash prize for 3rd place in the amount of 1200 euros was Faize Mokdar (France). Silver and 2,400 euros went to the 2023 Grand Slam medalist in Abu Dhabi and Tokyo, Jessica Lima (Brazil). And gold and 4 000 euros went to two-time world champion 2019 and 2023, Krista Deguchi (Canada). The winning coaches received 1000 euros for 1st place, 600 euros for 2nd place and 300 euros for 3rd place.
Maysa Pardayeva became the second among Turkmen judokas and the first among women to win a medal at the prestigious Grand Slam competitions, the winners of which receive ranking points to participate in the World Championships and Olympic Games.
Let us remind you that the first among the Turkmen judo masters who managed to climb the podium at the Grand Slam tournaments was Hekim Agammamedov, who won bronze in the weight category up to 66 kg last December in Tokyo. And for women, before that, the best result was 5th place in 2014 at the “Grand Slam” in Baku by Gulbadam Babamuratova.
