Uzbekistan will host the CIS Football Cup among youth teams
In November 2024, Uzbekistan will host the Commonwealth Football Cup among youth teams. This decision was made at a meeting of the working group on the preparation and holding of the CIS championships in sports, which was held on June 27 in Minsk, BELTA reports with reference to the CIS Executive Committee.
Representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee took part in the meeting of the working group.
The Football Cup will become one of the status sports competitions of the CIS, planned for 2024. In addition to the football tournament, Uzbekistan will also host the Commonwealth Open Chess Cup. In addition, in August Belarus will host the CIS Equestrian Championships for men and women.
The idea of holding CIS championships arose as a way to organize major sporting events between the Games of the CIS countries, which take place every two years. On October 26, 2023, the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS approved the regulations on the championships of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
