Turkmen karatekas win 45 medals at the “Chemnitz Open 2024” tournament in Germany
Turkmen athletes won 45 medals of various denominations at the “Chemnitz Open 2024” karatedo tournament that ended in Chemnitz (Germany).
The competition brought together 953 athletes from 5 countries, who competed for the title of the strongest in the disciplines of kata (demonstration of formal exercises) and kumite (fights) in different age categories.
The Turkmenistan team included 18 athletes, 7 judges and 2 coaches.
Based on the results of all types of the program, our compatriots have 21 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze medals. With these results, the turkmen karatekas took second place in the medal count, losing to the representatives of Germany (97 gold, 102 silver and 190 bronze awards). Behind our team were rivals from Poland (1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze), the Czech Republic (1 silver and 1 bronze) and Nepal (2 bronze).
The greatest contribution to the success of the turkmen team was made by: 10th grade student of the specialized secondary school №52 52nd Allanur Yalkabov (he has 3 gold medals), a 7th grade student of the specialized secondary school №1 of the Gokdepe etrap of the Ahal velayat Ovezmyrat Sapadurdyev (2 gold and 2 silver), 2nd year student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rasul Atajanov (2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze), athlete of the Karatedo Federation of Turkmenistan Magtymguly Annaev (2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze), 1st year student of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute Garamammet Garamammedov (2 gold and 2 bronze) and 3rd year student of the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan named after Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi the Great Dayanch Keletliev (1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze).
Turkmen karatekas performed at this tournament under the leadership of the head coach of the national team Aydyn Charyev and his assistant Bayram Yalkabov. Their immediate plans include participation in the international tournament "Youth Karate League 1", which will be held from December 4 to 8 in the resort town of Jesolo, located on the Adriatic coast in Italy.
The upcoming competitions are very important in the fight not only for medals, but also for ranking points for participation in the IV Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in the capital of Senegal, Dakar, from October 31 to November 13, 2026.
