8 teams from all velayats of the country and the city of Ashgabat participate in the championship. The teams are divided into two groups. The first two placed teams from each quartet qualify for the semi-finals of the championship.

In the first round of the championship, Altyn Touch beat its peers from the Kuvvatly Bedene team with a large score (7:0). In another match of Group A, Lebap won against Dashoguz with a score of 4:0. A Turkmen flag was spotted at the group stage match of the European Football Championship between the national teams of the Netherlands and France.
