Uzbekistan national team striker Eldor Shomurodov scored a historic goal in the match against Spain at the 2024 Olympics football tournament in Paris. The forward converted a penalty in added time to the first half (45+3), opening the scoring for Uzbekistan's goals at the Olympic Games.

This is, first of all, the first Grand Slam judo champion in the history of Turkmenistan, Serdar Rahymov - winner of the gold medal at Dushanbe Grand Slam 2024 in the weight category up to 66 kg and bronze medalist of the 19th Summer Asian Games in Hangzhou (China) and the Grand Slam tournament in Türkiye – «Antalya Grand Slam 2024» Maysa Pardayeva (up to 57 kg).

At the previous Olympic Games, which were held three years ago in Tokyo, representatives of Turkmenistan won the first silver medal in the history of our country. Weightlifter Polina Guryeva won silver in the up to 59 kg weight category.

At the upcoming Olympics in Paris, the envoys of Turkmenistan intend to surpass this achievement and raise the authority and prestige of domestic sports as high as possible.
