On August 17-18, 2024, the city of Shymkent (Kazakhstan) will host the Jiu-Jitsu tournament — “JJAU Regional Championship Central Asia 2024”.
The national teams of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will take part in the competition. Athletes will compete in the age categories of U16, U18, and among adults.
Turkmenistan will be represented at this tournament by 14 athletes. This was reported to a SalamNews correspondent by the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan.
The competition will be held in three Jiu-Jitsu disciplines: ne-waza, fighting and contact.
Jiu-Jitsu, which originated in Japan, is a continuation of samurai traditions. Samurai believed that their success lay in the ability to neutralize an opponent without weapons, using only their own bodies. This martial art involves using the enemy's strength against him.
Turkmen “Altyn Asyr” beat Indian “East Bengal” away in the qualifying match of the second AFC Champions League 2024/25 and reached the group stage of the tournament.

The Turkmenistan Football Premier League is preparing for the start of the third round of the competition, which will begin on August 16. Young athletes from Turkmenistan are preparing to participate in an international curling training camp, which will be held from August 16 to 24 in the Norwegian city of Lillehammer. Four juniors under the age of 16 will represent the country as part of a mixed team led by the head coach of the national team Sakina Gulamaleva.The event will bring together young curlers from 14 countries, providing a unique opportunity to exchange experiences and develop skills in this Olympic sport, "Neutral Turkmenistan" reports.

The international tennis tournament Selangor Asian 14 & Under Grade A Tournament (Southeast Asia) was held in Malaysia from August 3 to 10. This was reported to a SalamNews correspondent by the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan.
The competition was held in Bandar Baru Enstek, Negeri Sembilan state, and brought together 64 young athletes from Asia, including 32 boys and girls.
Turkmen tennis player Ilima Huseynova showed excellent results in doubles, winning second place together with a representative from Iran, Hana Shabanpour. In singles, Guseyinova reached the quarterfinals, which is also a significant achievement in such a competitive tournament.

The final stage of the PRO coaching courses of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is taking place in Ashgabat these days. This is reported by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan.
The course, which started on November 21, 2023, is a comprehensive program consisting of eight modules divided into four stages. The first six modules were successfully completed during the past and the beginning of this year.
Since July 29 of this year, the participants have started the final, seventh and eighth training modules, which include both theoretical and practical classes.
Successful completion of the exams, which will last until August 14, will allow Turkmen coaches to receive the highest qualification of football coaching — the AFC PRO license.
The course is conducted under the guidance of Gennady Skurtula, a UEFA instructor from Moldova, and AFC representatives Vilhelmus Kuvermans and Usmon Toshev are closely following the progress of the final stage.
Kuvermans, who became European champion with the Dutch national team in 1988, positively assessed the results of the course and its potential impact on the development of Turkmen football.
