President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the head of the Spanish football club “Atletico” Madrid, Enrique Cerezo Torres, at which plans to open an academy of this famous club in Kazakhstan were discussed.

According to the press service of the Kazakh leader, Cerezo Torres presented Tokayev with details of a project aimed at developing football in Kazakhstan through the creation of the “Atletico” Academy on the basis of the Akbulak Olympic Center in Talgar, Almaty region.

“The President of Kazakhstan highly appreciated the initiative and assured that the state would provide full support to this project aimed at developing football in the country”, - the statement said.

Tokayev emphasized that football is a priority for Kazakhstan, where about 40 000 children are already involved in this sport in schools and sections with active modernization of the sports infrastructure.

According to Cerezo Torres, “Atletico” academies operate successfully in many countries around the world, paying special attention to training coaches and introducing advanced techniques to unlock the potential of young talents.

At the end of the meeting, the head of “Atletico” presented Tokayev with a T-shirt with the autographs of the players of the Madrid club.

On June 11, the Turkmenistan national football team played the final match of the selection of the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup in Group E against the national team of Hong Kong at home. The Turkmen football players came to the game in white T-shirts, the guests in red.

The meeting, which took place at the Ashgabat multifunctional stadium, ended in a 0-0 draw.

It should be noted that just over 10,000 fans attended the game.

After the meetings, Mergen Orazov's wards scored 2 points and took the third place in the group, ahead of Hong Kong (2 points) in additional indicators (the difference between goals scored and conceded).

The rivals in the group, the national teams of Iran and Uzbekistan, also drew 0-0 in the last round. Turkmen athletes won one silver and two bronze medals at the Belarus Open Cup in archery, held in Minsk, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

Prizes in the team and individual competitions were competed by 129 athletes from seven countries – Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Ezizmuhammet Sahedov won silver in the individual competition. In addition, Sakhedov, paired with Shohrat Jumakuliyev, became a bronze medalist in the men’s team competition.

The second bronze medal for the Turkmen team was won by Oksana Gataulina and Ogulsuray Kakyshova, sharing third place in the women’s team competition.

Tomorrow, on June 11, the Turkmenistan national football team will play with the Hong Kong team in the final 6th round of the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup in Group E.

The match will be held at the Ashgabat multifunctional stadium. It starts at 20:00.

In order to ensure compliance of products manufactured in the country with international standards, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave a number of instructions on regulating standards related to raw materials and products planned for production, as well as their certification, including obtaining international ISO certificates.

In continuation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people ordered to take measures to issue a trademark in the Ministry of Finance and Economy for the products of the Arkadag Medisina Klasteri Menejment company and issue appropriate patents. In this regard, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, other ministries and departmental institutions should identify sources of financing for purchases of products needed during the year.

The Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan, D.Orazov, reported on the construction of industrial facilities planned as part of the second stage of the construction of the new city, and presented a list of local construction companies involved.

After hearing the report, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that appropriate measures should be taken to process the available raw materials at a high level, manufacture environmentally friendly and high-quality products from it. This will ensure the successful implementation of the program aimed at the industrialization of the country, will increase employment, at the same time establish a system of maintenance and production of products necessary for everyday life.

In addition to the high-quality construction of industrial facilities that will be erected as part of the second stage of the development of the city of Arkadag, in particular, medical institutions, information about their equipment and supply levels should be reflected in the media. This is important for familiarizing the world community with large-scale activities aimed at improving the health of the country's population and increasing the export potential of the economy. Noting that Turkmenistan has all the necessary opportunities to increase the production of medicines from raw materials and environmentally friendly spring water, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that these products will fully provide domestic consumers, along with increasing its export potential.

Olympic rings were installed on the Eiffel Tower before the start of the 2024 Games in Paris.

The symbol was installed 50 days before the start of the Olympics. The 29-by-13-meter structure, made of recycled steel, is located on the south side of the tower.
