Athletes from Turkmenistan will join the "Turiada" in the Saratov Oblast

The twelfth sports and tourism camp "Turiada" will open on May 20th in the city of Khvalynsk, Saratov Oblast. Among the foreign countries whose delegations will participate in the event, Turkmenistan has been announced. This was reported by the press service of Igor Komarov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District.

The traditional "Turiada" is held on the territory of the "Khvalynsky" ski resort and gathers approximately 800 participants from various countries and regions of Russia. The main body of participants consists of winners of regional competitions, tourism university students, coaches, experts, and volunteers.

This year, in addition to 14 teams from the Volga Federal District, international teams from Turkmenistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia will also attend the "Turiada".

Over four days, participants will compete in sports tourism events involving cycling, water, and pedestrian distances. Particular attention will be paid to a project competition focused on developing interregional tourist routes. The winner will receive a grant of 400,000 rubles for the implementation of their route.

The program also includes an intellectual marathon, an original song contest titled "Music of Hearts," a sports and tourism relay race, and competitions among juniors. All participants will traditionally be accommodated in a tent camp.
The official closing ceremony of the "Turiada" will take place on May 23rd, with the participation of Igor Komarov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Volga Federal District. The camp will conclude with a team relay race for the "Friendship Cup" in which mixed international teams, including representatives from Turkmenistan, will participate.

A judoka from Turkmenistan won bronze at the European Cup in Azerbaijan

Turkmen judoka Oguljan Ruslanova won a bronze medal at the Quba Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2025, which ended in Azerbaijan and brought together 354 athletes from 12 countries. She achieved this success in the 70 kg weight category, in which 18 athletes from 8 countries competed for the awards, the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports.

In the first fight, Oguljan defeated Rena Ahmadova (Azerbaijan), and in the second, she defeated Russian Sofia Yarmantovich.

In the final match, Ruslanova lost to Nini Dzagania (Georgia) in a tough fight, and in the fight for 3rd place, she beat Russian Alina Chekmareva and won bronze. Together with Ruslanova, Georgia's Maya Gvaladze climbed to the third step of the podium. The silver medalist was Georgian Nini Dzagania, and the winner of the tournament in the weight category up to 70 kg was Lucie Roullier (France).

This is the 16-year-old judoka's second medal at an international competition. Last week, Oguljan won bronze at the European Cadet Cup in Germany.

Turkmen weightlifter Rustamova wins gold at World Junior Championships in Peru

Anamjan Rustamova, a representative of Turkmenistan, won the Junior World Weightlifting Championships. The tournament is being held in Peru.

Rustamova won the competition in the 87 kg weight category, lifting a total of 249 kg (108 kg snatch + 141 kg clean and jerk). Mexican Vanessa Lizarraga won silver – 244 kg (109 + 135), and Russian Maria Gruzdova won bronze – 242 kg (108 + 134).

Ashgabat hosts 3.42 km mass run in support of peace and trust

A large-scale race under the motto "Sport is the key to peace and trust" was held in the Turkmen capital. The event was organized by the National Committee of Turkmenistan for UNESCO together with the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, the Central Council of the Youth Organization named after Makhtumkuli and the Ashgabat Khyakimlik.

Over 550 people took part in the sporting event, including students of higher educational institutions, students of sports schools and representatives of the capital's public of various age categories.

The 3.42 km long race route was laid along Bagtyyarlyk Street from the Arkadag monument bypassing the Ashgabat stadium and the Bagt Koshgi Wedding Palace with the finish line at the Arkadag monument.

Based on the results of the competition, winners were determined in several categories. Among students, the best were E. Esedova (Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan) and P. Babaniyazov (International University of Oil and Gas). In the category of adult residents of Ashgabat, V. Bayova and S. Saparov won. Among schoolchildren, the winners were A. Seydullaeva (Secondary School No. 76) and O. Orazmyradov (Secondary School No. 74).

All winners and prize-winners of the race were presented with valuable memorable gifts.

As Turkmenportal was informed by the press service of the National Committee of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, the event was timed to coincide with Turkmenistan's membership in the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Culture and Sport for 2023-2027 and is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and popularizing mass sports.

Ashgabat will host an international junior chess tournament

The International Junior Chess Tournament will be held from June 15 to 19 in Ashgabat. The competition will be organized at the Specialized Chess and Checkers School of the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Turkmen capital, the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reported.

The tournament will involve boys and girls in the age categories of up to 8, 10 and 12 years. The competition is being held as part of a program of events dedicated to Ashgabat's status as the "City of New Sports Opportunities of the Commonwealth".

Currently, young Turkmen chess players are intensively preparing for the upcoming international tournament.

Earlier, at the West Asian Junior Chess Championship, which was held in the capital of Tajikistan, the Turkmenistan team won five medals.

Turkmen chess players win five medals at West Asian Championship

The Turkmenistan national chess team won five medals – one gold and four bronze – at the West Asian Junior Championships, which ended in the capital of Tajikistan, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.

The gold medal was awarded to Leyla Shokhradova from the Lebap velayat, who became the best in the under 18 age category in blitz. The athlete scored 8.5 points out of 9 possible (8 wins and one draw).

The bronze medal in the under 8 age group was won by Ashgabat resident Charykhekim Charyev (rating 1732 points) from the chess club of the Bagtyyarlyk sports complex. For the young athlete, a two-time national champion in his age group, this award was his debut in the international arena.

Turkmen chess players received three more bronze medals in the under 10 category. Maksat Avlyakuliev (1739 points), Didar Khupbyev (1613 points) and Myrat Merdanov (1808 points) distinguished themselves in the team standings in all three disciplines of the competition - the classical version, rapid and blitz.

About 400 chess players from 13 countries took part in the championship, including Russia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

Currently, Turkmen chess players are preparing for the International Junior Tournament, which will be held from June 15 to 19 in Ashgabat.

Turkmen weightlifter Akmyradov wins silver at Youth World Championships in Peru

Turkmen weightlifter Islam Akmyradov won a silver medal at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Peru. He achieved this success in the 96 kg weight category.

Akmyradov scored 316 kg in the combined total (141 kg in the snatch + 175 kg in the clean and jerk). The gold went to Armenia's Grigor Kazaryan - 330 kg (145 + 185). Bronze went to Indian athlete Parv Chaudhary - 315 kg (140 + 175).

Earlier at the Youth World Championships in Peru, Didarbek Jumabayev won silver in the 81 kg weight category, Kakamyrat Annamyradov became a silver medalist in the 73 kg weight category. Ogulshat Amanova won bronze in the clean and jerk event and took fourth place overall in the 55 kg weight category.

Turkmen karatekas went to the World Cup in Poland

The Turkmenistan Traditional Karate Team has flown to the Polish city of Pulawy to participate in the Children's World Cup, which will be held from May 4 to 13. The team includes 20 young athletes under the guidance of coach Diyar Khodjaev.

Turkmenistan is also represented at the competition by international referee Eymur Mademinov.

This year, more than a thousand athletes from 35 countries will participate in the Traditional Karate World Cup.

Weightlifter from Turkmenistan Jumabayev won silver at the Youth World Championships in Peru

Turkmen weightlifter Didarbek Jumabayev won silver at the World Junior Weightlifting Championships in the capital of Peru. The athlete achieved this success in the weight category up to 81 kg.

Jumabayev gained 305 kg in the total of the two-event (137 kg in the snatch + 168 kg in the clean and jerk). The gold was won by Ukrainian athlete Sergey Kotelevsky - 314 kg (142 + 172). Bronze was won by Latvian representative Maksim Vasilonoks - 297 kg (136 + 161).

Turkmen weightlifter Annamyradov wins silver at Youth World Championships in Peru

Turkmen weightlifter Kakamyrat Annamyradov won silver at the World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru.

In the 73 kg weight category, Annamyradov scored 290 kg in the sum of two exercises (130 kg in the snatch + 160 kg in the clean and jerk). Gold went to Egypt's Metwally Hussein Abdelrahman - 306 kg (141 + 165), and third place went to Kazakhstan's Yernur Myrzakhmet - 286 kg (131 + 155).

Balkanabat prepares to open international airport

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov ordered to ensure a high level of preparation for the opening ceremony of the international airport in Balkanabat. The corresponding order was given during an extended visiting meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held by the head of state in the Balkan velayat, TDH reports.

The meeting, which was attended by members of the government, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, as well as the hyakim of the Balkan velayat, discussed issues of preparation for the Third UN International Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This event is scheduled for August this year and will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

The Chairperson of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova spoke about the preparations for the Interparliamentary Forum, which will be held within the framework of the international conference. Deputy Prime Ministers and the Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers presented reports on the measures taken by the supervised structures in preparation for the upcoming event.

Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of Defense Begench Gundogdyev reported on the work carried out by the military and law enforcement agencies of the country. The President instructed to ensure strict observance of law and order and fire safety rules during the conference. The Governor of the Balkan Velayat H. Ashyrmyradov reported on the preparatory work in the region. The head of state instructed to monitor the progress of landscaping and cleanliness in the region, especially in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

The Head of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan held a telephone conversation with the President of Germany

National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, during which the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, MIC reports.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of partnership with Germany. The legal basis of relations is about 100 bilateral documents. The countries fruitfully cooperate within the framework of the UN, EU and OSCE.

During the conversation, the current state of trade and economic cooperation was discussed. The National Leader proposed to establish interaction on a permanent basis with German companies BASF, MAN, Deutsche Bahn and Thyssenkrupp, as well as to continue the partnership with Siemens and Knauf.

Promising areas of bilateral cooperation include the chemical industry, transport, agriculture, healthcare and the textile industry. Among the new areas of interaction, the "green" economy, renewable energy sources and innovative technologies were identified.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's interest in cooperation with Thyssen Schachtbau GmbH and Schachtbau Nordhausen GmbH to establish the Garlyk Mining Complex, as well as in using BASF's experience in the chemical industry.

The parties also discussed partnership in the fields of education, culture and archeology. The National Leader of the Turkmen people proposed holding the second cycle of the Margiana archeological exhibition in Germany.

At the end of the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Steinmeier to visit Turkmenistan on an official visit at any convenient time and expressed hope for his participation in the international forum on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, which will be held on December 12 in Ashgabat.
