Turkmenistan Football Championship: Preview of the 32nd Round

On Saturday, November 30, three matches of the 32nd round of the Turkmenistan Football Championship will take place. The program will open with a match between "Arkadag" and "Merw," which will start at 12:00 at the "Nisa" stadium. At 15:00, "Ashgabat" will host "Nebitçi" at the same stadium, while in Turkmenbashi, "Ahal" will play against the local "Şagadam."

Currently, the tournament table is led by "Arkadag," which has already secured the championship, having scored 84 points in 28 matches. In second place is "Ahal" with 64 points, and "Altyn Asyr" rounds out the top three with 56 points and two games in hand. Following them are: "Şagadam" (40 points), "Merw" (35), "Nebitçi" (27), "Ashgabat" (25), and "Köpetdag" (17).

"Altyn Asyr" lost to "Air Force" in the Asian Champions League match

The football club "Altyn Asyr" lost at home to the Iraqi "Air Force" in the 5th round match of the AFC Champions League-2 group stage. The match, held in Ashgabat, ended in favor of the guests with a score of 2:0. In the 7th minute, "Altyn Asyr" defender Ahmet Atayev scored an own goal, and in the 31st minute, Iraqi midfielder Hiran Ahmed doubled his team's lead.

Starting from the 2024/25 season, the Asian Football Confederation reformed club competitions on the continent, establishing three new tournaments: the elite AFC Champions League for the highest-ranked clubs, the second-tier AFC Champions League-2, and the lowest-ranked AFC Challenge League.

The vice-champion of Turkmenistan, "Altyn Asyr," successfully passed licensing and entered the AFC Champions League-2, which is analogous to the previously existing AFC Cup, where the "Turkmenaragatnashyk" team reached the final in 2018. The team, coached by Yazkuli Hojageldiyev, started the new tournament from the preliminary round, where they won away against the Indian "East Bengal" with a score of 3:2, earning the right to represent Turkmenistan in the AFC Champions League-2 group stage.

In the AFC Champions League-2 group stage, 32 teams are divided geographically into two zones – Western and Eastern. "Altyn Asyr" plays in Group "B," where they compete for two spots in the round of 16 along with the Saudi club "Al-Taawoun" (12 points), "Al-Khalidiya" from Bahrain, and "Air Force," both having 9 points. "Altyn Asyr" is at the bottom of the table with no points. In the next round, the "telecoms" will play away against Bahrain's "Al-Khalidiya" on December 4.

Durdiyev's hat-trick helped 'Arkadag' thrash 'Kopetdag' in the Turkmenistan Championship match

"Arkadag" defeated "Kopetdag" in an away match of the 31st round of the Turkmenistan Football Championship.

The match, held in Ashgabat, ended with a score of 8-0 in favor of the visitors, with forward Didar Durdiyev scoring a hat-trick (11th, 24th, and 31st minutes). Other goals were scored by Ilya Tamurkin (53rd), Begmurat Bayov (67th, penalty), Enevr Annayev (82nd), Shamammet Hydyrov (87th), and Nazar Tovakelov (89th).

Thanks to this victory, "Arkadag" strengthened its leadership in the standings, gaining 84 points in 28 matches. "Kopetdag", with 17 points in 29 matches, is in the last, 8th position. Notably, "Arkadag" winning streak in the Turkmenistan Championship has reached 52 matches.

In other matches of the round, Ahal defeated Nebitci 2-0 at home, with Elman Tagayev scoring a brace, and Shagadam secured a narrow 1-0 away victory over Merv, with the only goal scored by Khydyrgeldi Atjanov.

Ronaldo's double brought victory to “Al-Nasr” in the elite AFC Champions League

Saudi Arabian football club “Al-Nassr” defeated Qatari “Al-Gharafa” in the fifth round of the elite AFC Champions League, finishing the match with a score of 3:1.

Astrakhan to host Caspian Games again in 2025

The Caspian Games international competition, which was held in Astrakhan in 2024 in the Universiade format, will be held next year. Discussions on the format are currently underway, Nina Ivashkina, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Astrakhan Region said, at a press conference.

The minister noted that the success of last year's event generated great interest. This year, teams from universities in the Caspian region took part, but the format may change in 2025: the organizers are negotiating with federations of various sports to possibly attract national teams from the region.

In 2024, more than 800 students from Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Iran and other countries, including foreign students from Astrakhan universities, took part in the competition. The program included athletics, chess, sambo, volleyball, phygital sports and other disciplines. The overall team event was won by athletes from Kazakhstan.

The event became part of the XXVI General Assembly of the Association of Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian Littoral Countries, which strengthened its status as an important cultural and sporting event in the region.

A new boxing confederation has been created in Asia

The international sports organization World Boxing has announced the creation of a new Asian Confederation. This was reported on the website of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan.

The new structure will be responsible for the development and promotion of boxing across Asia. The creation of the confederation has received broad support both within the organization and among the international boxing community.

Turkmen tennis players won two victories at the start of the Davis Cup

The Turkmenistan national team has successfully started its performance in the Davis Cup zonal tournament, which is taking place in the Bahraini city of Isa Town. It is worth noting that Turkmen tennis players have been playing in the Davis Cup since 2004. The team achieved its highest achievement in 2015, when it reached the playoffs of the group III tournament of the Asia and Oceania zone in Kuala Lumpur.
